Chauhan Shyam Vir Singh, born 15 July, 1943 in the city of Vrindavan, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, India. Graduated from Agra University (at the present time – Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra), Faculty of Life Sciences (at the present time – School of Life Sciences), Department of Department of Botany, with BSc (1961), MSc (1963), PhD (1973), and DSc (1988) in Botany, in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. Director for the Academy of Life Sciences, Secretary-Treasurer for the Society of Plant Reproductive Biologists, the Editor in Chief for the International Journal of Plant Reproductive Biology, Research Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of India, and Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, with the studies in ultra-structural and molecular studies on male sterility of various origins in sugar beets (1963). Former Professor and Dean for the School of Life Sciences, Agra University, in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. Has more than 50 years’ experience in research and teaching. Participated more than 100 International scientific conferences with keynote address. President for the International Society for Conservation of Natural Resources, the Indian Science Congress Association (Plant Science Section), the Indian Botanical Society and the Indian Association of Angiosperm Taxonomy. Awarded by the Birbal Sahni Medal of the Indian Botanical Society (2005) and Sergey G. Navashin Medal of the Russian Botanical Society. Scientific editor for 5 published books, authored one and has written 29 chapters in the edited books. Supervisor for 75 PhD students. Has visited for a research studies and teaching activities many countries as follows: US, UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Serbia, Japan, China, Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Russia. Author and co-author of more than 350 research papers published nationally and internationally.
