Ilyinov Aleksey Alekseevich, born 9 February, 1951. Graduated from Petrozavodsk State University, Faculty of Biology (at the present time – Faculty of Ecology and Biology) (1980). Candidate of Agricultural Sciences (PhD) in Forest Crops, Selection and Seed Growing (1999). PhD thesis: «Vnutrividovaya Izmenchivost' i Populyascionnaya Struktura Eli Finskoi Picea x fennica Regel K v Karelii» (Intraspecific Variability and Population Structure of Finnish Spruce Picea x Fennica Regel K in Karelia), Petrozavodsk, 1998 (in Russian). Senior Research Scientist for the Laboratory for Boreal Forest Dynamics and Production at Forestry Research Institute, Karelian Research Centre, Russian Academy of Sciences in the city of Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia (since 2011). Research interests in population genetics of woody plants, forest breeding. Author and co-author of more than 30 papers and 1 book.
