Leduc Sylvain

Leduc Sylvain, born in 1977 in France. Graduated in mechanical engineering from Ecole d’ingénieurs Polytech Orléans Université d’Orléans, in the city of Orléans, department of Loiret, France (2000). Then worked as a Research Engineer and studied at the Division of Energy Science, Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics at Lulea University of Technology, where he studied individual and industrial wood boilers with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and energy systems modelling, in the city of Luleå, Sweden (2000-2009). PhD degree in Energy Engineering completed and received in collaboration with Lulea University of Technology and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in 2009. PhD thesis: «Development of an Optimization Model for the Location of Biofuel Production Plants», Lulea University of Technology, Luleå, Sweden, 2009. Research Scholar for the Ecosystems Services and Management Program at IIASA, where has been leading the development of the BeWhere model, a techno-economic model, which optimizes the geographical location of bio-energy production plants, and applied in many applications such as forest based bio-energy, algae production, solar or wind energy, in the city of Laxenburg, Austria (since 2007 to present time). Author and co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed papers.
