Makhatkov Igor Dmitrievich, born 25 July 1958, in the city of Bryansk, Bryansk Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Kaliningrad State University (KSU, 1980) (30 December 2010 KSU rearranged to Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University), Faculty of Biology (at the present time – Institute of Living Systems), with a specialty in Biology, qualification Biologist, in the city of Kaliningrad, Kaliningrad Oblast, Soviet Union. Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD) in Botany (1999). PhD thesis: «Prostranstvennaya Struktura Tsenopopulyatsiy Pikhty Sibirskoy v Chernevykh Pikhtovykh Lesakh Salaira» (Spatial Structure of the Siberian Fir Coenopopulations in the Chern Fir Forests of Salair), Novosibirsk, Central Sib. Bot. Garden, Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br., 1998 (in Russian). Senior Research Scientist for the Laboratory of Soil Geography and Genesis, Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch, in the city of Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia. Research interests in study structure and dynamics of plant populations, soil and geobotanical mapping, soil geography and genesis, bogs of the Western Siberia. Author and co-author of more than 50 scientific publications.
