Menshchikov Sergey Leonidovich, born on October 7, 1951 in the city of Yemanzhelinsk, Yemanzhelinsky District, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from A. M. Gor’kiy Ural State University (USU) (12 May 2011 USU has been affiliated to Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B. N. Eltsin), Faculty of Biology (at the present time – Institute of Natural Sciences), with a specialty in Biology, qualification Teacher of Biology and Chemistry, in the city of Sverdlovsk (4 September 1991 the city of Sverdlovsk regained its historical name Yekaterinburg), Sverdlovsk Oblast, Soviet Union (1979). Candidate of Agricultural Sciences (PhD) in Forest Crops, Selection, Seed Growing and City Greening (1985). PhD dissertation: «Issledovanie ekologicheskikh osobennostey rosta i obosnovanie agrotekhniki sozdaniya kul’tur khvoynykh porod v usloviyakh magnezitovykh zapyleniy» (Study of Environmental Features and Substantiation of Agrotechnics for the Creation of Forest Crops of Coniferous Species in the conditions of Magnesite Dustiness), Sverdlovsk, Ural Inst. For. Engineer., 1985 (in Russian). Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (DSc) in Forest Science and Silviculture; Forest Fires and Fire Fighting (2003). DSc dissertation: «Zakonomernosti transformatsii predtundrovykh i taezhnykh lesov v usloviyakh aerotekhnogennogo zagryazneniya i puti snizheniya nanosimogo ushcherba» (Regularities of Transformation of Pre-Tundra and Taiga Forests in the Conditions of Aerial Technogenic Pollution and the Ways to Reduce the Damage Caused), Yekaterinburg, Ural St. For. Engineer. Univ., 2003 (in Russian). Senior Researcher Scholar (1993), Head for the Laboratory of Ecology of Technogenic Plant Communities, Bot. Garden, Ural Br., Rus. Acad. Sci., in the city of Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia (since 2005 to present time). Specialist in recultivation of technogenically disturbed lands. Scientific interests in study technogenically disturbed lands in the Urals, developing new methods of biological recultivation of lands, disturbed by the industries. Author and co-author of more than 140 scientific publications.
