Petrova Irina Vladimirovna, born 20 March, 1954 in the town of TalitsaTalitsky DistrictSverdlovsk Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Tjumen State University, Biological and Chemistry Faculty (at the present time – Institute of Biology), with a specialty in Biology, qualification Biologist, in the city of  TyumenTyumen OblastSoviet Union (1978). Candidate (PhD, 1994), and Doctor (DSc, 2002) of Biological Sciences in Ecology. PhD thesis: «Izolyatsiya i Differentsiatsiya Smezhnykh Sukhodol'nykh i Bolotnykh Populyatsiy Sosny Obyknovennoy v Zaural'e» (Isolation and Differentiation of an Adjacent Upland and Boggy Scoth Pine Population at Zauralie), Yekaterinburg, 1994 (in Russian). DSc thesis: «Izolyatsiya, Differentsiatsiya i Khorologicheskaya Struktura Populyatsiy Sosny Obyknovennoy: Na Primere Severnoy Evrazii» (Isolation, Differentation, and Chorological Structure of the Scotch Pine Populations: on the Example of Northern Eurasia), YekaterinburgInst. Sci., Ural Br., in the city of YekaterinburgSverdlovsk OblastRussia. The main research interests in population genetics, ecology and geography of woody plants, forms of reproductive isolation, chorological structure, polymorphism, gradients, borders and eco-geographical differentiation lowland (wetland and upland) and mountain populations of conifers, genosystematics and taxonomy of the Scotch pine. Author and co-author of more than 150 papers.
