Petrova Irina Vladimirovna, born 20 March, 1954 in the town of Talitsa, Talitsky District, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. Graduated from Tjumen State University, Biological and Chemistry Faculty (at the present time – Institute of Biology) (1978). Doctor of Biological Sciences in Ecology, Director, Head for the Laboratory of Population Biology of Woody Plants and Forest Dynamics, Botanical Garden, Russian Academy of Sciences, Ural Branch in the city of Yekaterinburg. The main research interests in population genetics, ecology and geography of woody plants, forms of reproductive isolation, chorological structure, polymorphism, gradients, borders and eco-geographical differentiation lowland (wetland and upland) and mountain populations of conifers, genosystematics and taxonomy of Pinus sylvestris. Author and co-author of more than 150 papers.
