Sofronova Valentina Egorovna

Sofronova Valentina Egorovna, born 31 August 1953 in Ust-Aldansky District of Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, Russia. Graduated from V. I. Lenin Tashkent State University (at the present time – National University of Uzbekistan Named after Mirzo Ulugbek), Faculty of Chemistry, with a specialty in Organic Chemistry (1975). Candidate of Chemical Sciences (PhD) in Organic Chemistry (1984). PhD thesis: «Deiteroobmen pri Izomerizatsionnykh Prevrashcheniyakh Pentanov v Prisutstvii Kislykh Katalizatorov» (Deuterium Exchange under Isomerization Conversion of Pentanes with the Presence of Acid Catalytic Agents), Irkutsk, 1984 (in Russian). Senior Research Scientist for the Laboratory of Biogeochemical Cycles of Permafrost Ecosystems, Institute for Biological Problems of Cryolite Zone, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch in the city of Yakutsk. Scientific interests in cold acclimatization of plants in the permafrost (cryolithic) zone, photoprotective pigments, regulation of energy partitioning in PS II during cold acclimation. Advised 2 PhD and 4 Graduate students. Author and co-author of more than 100 scientific publications, including 24 research papers in Russian national peer-reviewed scientific journals.
