Valendik Erik Nikolaevich, born 4 October, 1930 in the village of Atamanovo Kuztetsk District (at the present time – Novokuznetsky District), West Siberian Krai (since 1944 – Kemerovo Oblast), Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia), deceased 16 June 2021 in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. Graduated from the Siberian Institute of Forest Technology (SibIFT) (in 1997 SibIFT renaimed to Siberian State University of Technology (SibSUT), in 2016 SibSUT affiliated to Academician M. F. Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology), Faculty of Forestry (in 2017 Faculty of Forestry included to the Institute of Forest Technologies), with a specialty in Forestry and qualification Engineer of Forestry (1957). Candidate (PhD, 1966), and Doctor (DSc., 1986) of Agricultural Sciences, Professor (2001) in Forest Science, Forestry, Forest Fires and Fire Fighting, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (1998), the Honored Forester of the Russian Federation (2001). PhD thesis: «Transformatsiya Vetra Lesom i Pozharom» (Transformation of Wind by Forest and Fire),  Krasnoyarsk, Inst. For. & Timber, USSR Acad. Sci., Sib. Br. 1966 (in Russian). N. Sukachev Institute of Forest, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch, in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. Expert in forest pyrology, studying large-scale forest fires. PI and CoPI for a numerous international research projects in studying nature of forest fires and their impact on forest ecosystems’ formation and dynamics.
