Danilin Igor Mikhailovich, born 27 May, 1957 in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia (former USSR). Graduated from the Siberian Institute of Technology (at the present time – M. F. Reshetnev Siberian State Aerospace University), Faculty of Forestry, with a specialty Engineer of Forestry (1980). Candidate (PhD) (1985) and Doctor (2004) of Agricultural Sciences in Forest Planning and Forest Inventory. Leading Research Scholar for the Laboratory of Forest Inventory and Forest Use at Federal Research Center, Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch, V. N. Sukachev Institute of Forest, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch, in the city of Krasnoyarsk (2004), Professor for the Department of Informatics & Computer Science at Academician M. F. Reshetnev Siberian State Aerospace University (since 2011 to present time). Expert in forest inventory, forest use, modeling of forest ecosystems, remote sensing methods for monitoring and research of boreal forests. PI and CoPI for more than 20 international and national research projects on monitoring and biosphere functions of boreal forests, and sustainable forest management, supported by the grants of the: IIASA, USAID, JSPS, JAFTA, EFI, RFBR, FTP, SB RAS, KTSF. Advised 5 PhD and 10 MSc students, more than 30 graduates with higher education. Member of Editorial Council of an international peer-reviewed theoretical and applied research journal «Lesnaya Taksaciya i Lesoustroistvo» (Forest Inventory and Forest Planning), Associate editor-in-chief for peer-reviewed scientific journal «Siberian Journal of Forest Science.» Author and co-author of more than 150 papers, including chapters in 17 monographs, more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and 5 teaching books.
