Isaev Alexander Sergeevich, born 26 October, 1940 in Moscow city, Soviet Union. Graduated from Leningrad Forest Technical Academy (at the present time – Saint-Petersburg State Forest Technical University) Forestry Faculty, with a specialty «Forestry Engineer» (1954). Research Supervisor for the Centre on Problems of Ecology and Productivity of Forests, Russian Academy of Sciences (1991), President Co-Chair for International Institute of Forest (1991), Doctor of Biological Sciences in Entomology (1972), Professor (1975), Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1984), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences on General Biology Branch and Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991), Honored Doctor for Moscow State Forest University (1998). Leader of Russian forest science. Director for V.N. Sukachev Institute of Forest & Timber, USSR Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch (At the present time – V.N. Sukachev Institute of Forest, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch) (1977-1988), Head for State Committee on Forest (Goscomles) of the USSR (1988-1991). PI and CoPI for more than 50 national and international research projects in the field of forest ecological monitoring, biodiversity, and sustainable use of Russian forests. Editor-in chief for peer-reviewed scientific journal "Lesovedenie" (Russian Forest Sciences), associate editor for peer-reviewed scientific journals  "Sibirski Ekologicheski Zurnal" (Siberian Journal of Ecology), Contemporary Problems of Ecology and "Sibirski Lesnoi Zurnal" (Siberian Journal of Forest Science). Principal research interests: biogeocenology, theory of forest insect number's dynamics, ecological monitoring of forests. Author (and co-author) of more than 400 papers, including 10 monographs.
