Korhonen Kari Tapani, born 26 November, 1963. Graduated from the University of Joensuu (at the present time University of Eastern Finland), Faculty of Forestry (at the present time Faculty of Science and Forestry, School of Forest Sciences), with MSc in Forestry (1987), and PhD in Forest Inventory (1995), in the city of JoensuuNorth Karelia region, Eastern Finland ProvinceFinland. Research Scientist (1986), Senior Research Scientist (2001) for the Laboratory of Forest Inventory at Finnish Forest Research Institute METLA (from 1 January 2015, METLA is part of the Natural Resources Institutу Finland), Head for the National Forest Inventory of Finland (2004), Associate Professor in Forest Mensuration for the Faculty of Forestry (at the present time Faculty of Science and Forestry, School of Forest Sciences) at University of Joensuu (at the present time University of Eastern Finland) (1990, 1997), in the city of Joensuu, North Karelia region, Eastern Finland Province, Finland. Expert in forest inventory methods, statistical modeling, criteria and indicators of sustainable forest management. Member of FAO Advisory Board in Global Forest Resource Assessment (2009-2013), Leader of the UNECE Team of Specialists on Monitoring Sustainable Forest Management (2010-2013). Author and co-author of more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, about 50 other papers and 2 books. Head of several forest inventory training and support projects in Asia and Africa.
