Kari T. Korhonen, born 26 November, 1963. Graduated from the University of Joensuu, Faculty of Forestry, Finland (1987). Doctoral thesis at the same faculty (1995). Researcher of forest inventory methods in Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) since 1986, senior researcher since 2001, Head of National Forest Inventory of Finland since 2004. Associate professor (forest mensuration) at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Joensuu in 1990 and 1997. Expert in forest inventory methods, statistical modeling, criteria and indicators of sustainable forest management. Member of Advisory Board in Global Forest Resource Assessment (FAO) in 2009-2013, Leader of Team of Specialists on Monitoring Sustainable Forest Management (UNECE) 2010-2013. Author (and co-author) of more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, about 50 other papers and 2 books. Head of several forest inventory training and support projects in Asia and Africa.
