Heli Peltola, born 29 March, 1965. Graduated from the University of Joensuu, Faculty of Forestry with M.Sc. in Forestry (1988), Ph.D. in Forestry at Faculty of Forestry, University of Joensuu (1995), Docent in Silvicultural Sciences (2002) at University of Joensuu, Professor in Silvicultural Sciences (2013) at University of Eastern Finland and leader of Research Group "Dynamics and Management of Boreal Forests". Main expertise is on sustainable management of boreal forest ecosystems under changing climatic conditions, considering the production of forest biomass, carbon sequestration and risk management (e.g. wind/snow and drought). Expert for European Forest Institute. PI, CoPI, and researcher, for 12 national and 14 international research projects. Author (and co-author) of more than 160 papers of which 112 are peer-reviewed scientific articles published in international journals. Chairperson or member for scientific and organizing committees for many international scientific conferences and workshops. Ad-hoc reviewer for many scientific journals. Supervised 18 Ph.D. and over 50 M.Sc. students graduated from the University of Eastern Finland (formerly University of Joensuu).
