Peltola Heli M., born 29 March, 1965. Graduated from the University of Joensuu (at the present time University of Eastern Finland), Faculty of Forestry (at the present time Faculty of Science and Forestry, School of Forest Sciences), with MSc (1988), and PhD in Forestry (1995), in the city of JoensuuNorth Karelia region, Eastern Finland ProvinceFinland. Associate Professor (2002), Professor (2013) in Silvicultural Sciences, Leader of Research Group "Dynamics and Management of Boreal Forests" for the School of Forest SciencesFaculty of Science and ForestryUniversity of Eastern Finland, campus in the city of KuopioNorthern Savonia region, Eastern Finland ProvinceFinlandExpert for the European Forest Institute, in the city of Joensuu, North Karelia region, Eastern Finland Province, Finland. Main expertise is on sustainable management of boreal forest ecosystems under changing climatic conditions, considering the production of forest biomass, carbon sequestration and risk management (e. g. wind/snow and drought). PI, CoPI, and Researcher, for 12 national and 14 international research projects. Chairperson or member for scientific and organizing committees for a numerous international scientific conferences and workshops. Supervised 18 PhD and over 50 MSc students. Ad-hoc reviewer for many scientific journals. Author and co-author of more than 200 papers of which more than 150 are peer-reviewed scientific articles published in international journals.
