Popov Petr Petrovich
Popov Petr Petrovich, born 22 May, 1939 in the village of Orlovo, Novousmansky District, Voronezh Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Voronezh Forest Engineering Institute (at the present time – Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies named after G. F. Morozov), Forest Faculty, with a specialty in Forestry, and qualification Engineer of Forestry, in the city of Voronezh, Voronezh Oblast, Russia (1965). PhD corresponding course in Forest Science at the Ural Institute of Forest Engineering (at the present time – Ural State Forest Engineering University), in the city of Sverdlovsk (at the present time Yekaterinburg), Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. Candidate of Agricultural Sciences (PhD) in Forest Crops, Selection, and Seed Growing (1972). Doctor of Biological Sciences in Ecology and Forest Crops, Selection, Seed Growing and Greening of Settlements (1992). PhD thesis: «Formy Eli v Lesakh Prikam'ya i Ikh Selektsionno-Lesovodstvennoe Znachenie» (Forms of Spruce in the Forests of Prikam'e and Their Breeding-Silvicultural Significance), Sverdlovsk (in 1992 the city of Sverdlovsk renaimed to Yekaterinburg), Lenin Komsomol Ural Forest Engineering Inst. (at the present time – Ural State Forest Engineering Univ.), 1971 (in Russian). Scientific interests in population biology of the Eurasian northern forests, intraspecific variation, diversity, systematics, regularities of reproduction. Co-PI for the research project «Assessment of Biodiversity Dynamics of the North of Western Siberia in Connection with Landscape-Climatic Transgression and Exploitation of Oil and Gas Resources», by the research plans of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Associate editor for peer-reviewed scientific journal «Sibirskij Lesnoj Zurnal» (Siberian Journal of Forest Science). Author and co-author of more than 150 scientific publications, including 4 books.
