Tarakanov Vyacheslav Veniaminovich, born 1 January, 1955. Graduated from Irkutsk State University Faculty of Biology, with a specialty "Teacher of Biology and Chemistry", in the city of Irkutsk, Irkutsk Oblast, Russia (1978), PhD studies in Plant Genetics at the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biology, A. A. Zdanov Leningrad State University (at the present time – Saint Petersburg State University), in the city of Saint Petersburg, Russia (1982). Doctor of Agricultural Sciences in Silviculture (2003), Director for the West-Siberian Branch of V.N. Sukachev Institute of Forest, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch in the city of Novosibirsk (2009), Head for Interdepartmental Research and Teaching Laboratory of Plantation Forestry, Expert in forest genetic resources. Member of the editorial board of peer-reviewed scientific journal "Sibirski Lesnoi Zurnal" ("Siberian Journal of Forest Science").
