Varaksin Gennadiy Sergeevich, born 9 August, 1957 in the village of Ovinnyi, Yemelyanovsky District, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia (former USSR). Graduated from the Siberian Institute of Technology (SibIT) (in 1997 SibIT renaimed to Siberian State University of Technology (SibSUT), in 2016 SibSUT affiliated to Academician M. F. Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology), Faculty of Forestry, Department of Silviculture, with a specialty in Forestry and qualification Engineer of Forestry (1979). Candidate (PhD, 1987), Senior Research Scientist (1996), and Doctor (2004) of Agricultural Sciences in Forest Crops, Selection and Seed Growing. PhD thesis: «Оsobennosti Rosta i Razvitiya Kultur Sosny Obyknovennoy v Podzone Yuzhnoy Taigi Zapadnoy Sibiri» (Specifics of Growth and Development of Scotch Pine Crops in the Southern Taiga Subzone of Western Siberia), Krasnoyarsk, V. Krasnoyarsk State Agr. Univ.), and «Sibirskij Lesnoj Zurnal» (Sib. J. For. Sci.) (since 01.09.2017). The Honored Veteran of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. For a creative scientific activity of many years and outstanding contribution to the development of science, awarded by the «Silver Sigma» honorary sign of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2007). Author and co-author of more than 200 papers, and 7 books.
