The article presents information from the biography of Anatoly Ianovich Lobanov and briefly analyzes the results of his scientific research. Anatoly I. Lobanov is a well-known specialist in botany, forest science and forest ecology, who made a significant contribution to the study of forests in Siberia and Mongolia. Anatoly I. Lobanov devoted much attention to the studies on the problems of forest phenology, agroforestry, protective afforestation and introduction of woody plants. According to the results of research by Anatoly I. Lobanov, more than 250 scientific publications were published, 2 patents of the Russian Federation for inventions were received. The contribution of Anatoly I. Lobanov to the training of students, forest researchers and forestry workers in Russia, Belarus and Mongolia is noted. At present, Anatoly I. Lobanov continues his active scientific activity, works with students, publishes the results of his studies.
