Graduated from Mari Polytechnic Institute named after A. M. Gorkiy (at the present time – Volga State University of Technology), Faculty of Forestry 9at the present time – Institute of Forest and Nature Management), with a specialty in Forestry, qualification Engineer of Forestry, in the city of Yoshkar-Ola, Mari ASSR (09.12.1992 Mari ASSR renaimed to Mari El Republic), Soviet Union. Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD) in Botany (1978), Doctor of Biological Sciences (DSc) in Ecology (2000). PhD thesis: «Ekologo-Biologicheskie Osobennosti Duba Chereshchatogo (Quercus robur L.) v Yuzhnoy Lesostepi Omskoy Oblasti» (Ecological and Biological Characteristics of the Common oak (Quercus robur L.) in the southern forest-steppe of Omsk Oblast), Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg), Inst.
