Karpenko Lyudmila Vasil’evna, born 4 April, 1948 in the city of Osh, Osh Region, Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic (since 1991 – Republic of Kyrgyzstan), Soviet Union. Graduated from V. V. Kuybyshev Tomsk State University (at the present time – National Research Tomsk State University) Faculty of Biology and Soil Sciences (at the present time – Institute of Biology, Ecology, Soil Science, Agriculture and Forestry (Institute of Biology), with a specialty in soil science and agrochemistry, in the city of Tomsk, Tomsk Oblast, Russia (1971). Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD) in Botany (1997). PhD thesis: «Vzaimosmeny lesa i bolota v srednetaezhnoy chasti Zapadnoy Sibiri» (Cross-Changes of Forest and Bog in the Middle Taiga Part of Western Siberia), Krasnoyarsk, V. N. Sukachev Inst. For., Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br., 1997 (in Russian). Senior Research Scientist for the Laboratory of Phytocenology and Forest Resource Science, V. N. Sukachev Inst. For., Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br., Fed. Res. Center Krasnoyarsk Sci. Center, Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br., in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. Research interests in studying forest-swamp landscapes of West Siberia and Krasnoyarsk Krai, as well as reconstruction of vegetation and climate dynamics.
