Kashkarоv Evgeniy Petrovich, born 12 April 1955, in the city of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Irkutsk State University, Faculty of Biology (at the present time – Faculty of Biology and Soil Studies), with a specialty in Biology, qualification Biologist, in the city of Irkutsk, Soviet Union (1980). PhD studies in Biogeography at the Department of Biogeography, Faculty of Geography, Lomonosov Moscow State University, in the city of Moscow, Russia (1989-1992). Candidate of Geographical Sciences (PhD) in Biogeography and Geography of Soils (1992). PhD thesis: «Ekologo-Geograficheskie Osnovy Ustoychivosti Populyatsionnykh Gruppirovok Krupnykh Mlekopitayushchikh Tyan’-Shanya» (Ecological and Geographical Bases of Stability of Population Groupings of Large Mammals of the Tien Shan), Moscow, Lomonosov Moscow St. Univ., 1992 (in Russian). Main places of work: Tien-Shan High Mountain Physical Geographical Station of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyz Republic, Scientific Research Institute of Biology of Irkutsk State University, Altai State University, and an International Rhythm Research Institute (571 Sunnyside Rd, Trout Lake, WA, 98650 United States). Visiting Scholar at the Department of Geography (at the present time – School of the Environment), Washington State University, in the city of Seattle, Washington, United States (2006-2007). Professional and scientific interests in strategy of protection of endangered species of mammals, marginal populations, biogeography, paleogeography, and rhythms of natural processes. Conducted pioneer field research of the snow leopard in Tien Shan, Eastern Sayan, Northern Mongolia, Transbaikalia, Tofalaria, and collected the first data on this species in Yakutia. Advisor for an International environmental and commercial organizations and the IUCN Species Survival Commission (1990-present). Materials of studies on the Tian Shan formed the basis for the creation of Sarychatsky Nature Reserve in the Central Tian Shan, Kyrgyzstan (1995). Designed environmental management plan for Hovsgol Lake National Park in Mongolia (1997-1998), and Saylyugem Nature Reserve (at the present time – Saylyugemsky National Park) in the Altai Republic, Russia (2002-2004). Author and co-author of more than 110 scientific publications.
