Kim Kyoung-Woong, born 26 December 1964, in the city of …, Republic of Korea. Graduated from Seoul National University, Faculty of Mineralogy (at the present time – Department of Energy Resources Engineering, College of Engineering), with BSc (1987) and MSc (1989) in Mineral and Petroleum Engineering, in the city of Seoul, Republic of Korea. PhD in Environmental Technology from the Imperial College (since 2007 – Imperial College London), University of London, in the city of London, England, UK (1993). Chair, Professor for Soil Environment Laboratory, School of Earth Science and Environmental Engineering, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, in the city of Gwangju, region Honam, Republic of Korea (1997-present). Research interests in removal of organic and/or inorganic contaminants from soils, heavy metal contamination of water, soil and plant in the metal mining areas, geochemical engineering for the remediation of contaminated sediments, monitoring of remediated soils by earthworm and bioluminescent bacteria. PI and Co-PI for a numerous national and international scientific research projects and grants in environmental studies. Author and co-author of more than 270 scientific publications, including 6 textbooks.
