Namzalov Bimba-Tsyren Batomunkuevich, born 5 September 1948 in the village of Nizhnyaya Ivolga, Ivolginsky District, Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (since 27.03.1992 г. – Republic of Buryatia), Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from the Dorzhi Banzarov Buryat State Pedagogical Institute (at the present time – Banzarov Buryat State University), Faculty of Biology and Chemistry (at the present time – Institute of Natural Sciences), Department of Botany, with a specialty in Biology and Chemistry, qualification Teacher of Biology and Chemistry, specialization in Steppe Science. Steppes of Transbaikalia, in the city of Ulan-Ude, Republic of BuryatiaSoviet Union (1972), PhD studies in Botany at the Laboratory of Geobotany (at the present time – Laboratory of Ecology and Geobotany), Central Siberian Botanical Garden, USSR Acad. Sci., Sib. Br. (at the present time – Central Siberian Botanical Garden, Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br.), in the city of NovosibirskSoviet Union (1976-1978). Candidate (PhD, 1978) and Doctor (DSc, 1992) of Biological Sciences, Professor (1998) in Botany. Specialist in phytocenology, geography and ecology of steppe vegetation, geobotanical mapping, study spatial structure of plant cover, classification and analysis of the diversity of mountain vegetation. Scientific interests in study flora, endemism and relict phenomena in vegetation, florocoenogenesis and the concept of the genesis of arid and subarid (steppe and forest-steppe) vegetation, ethnobotany and ethnoecology, traditional and contemporary aspects of environmental management. Author and co-author of more than 270 scientific publications, including 12 books, and 5 textbooks.
