Krupskaya Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute (at the present time – Moscow Region State University), Faculty of Natural Science. Doctor of Biological Sciences (1982) and Professor (1990) in Zoology. DSc. thesis: «Prostranstvennaya Organizasciya naseleniya Ptisc Lesnoi Zony Zapadnoi Sibiri» (Spatial Organization of Bird Population in Forest Zone of Western Siberia), Moscow, 1980 (in Russian). Head for the Laboratory of Zoological Monitoring at the Institute of Systematics and Animal Ecology, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch (ISAE SB RAS), Professor, Head for the branch of Department of Vertebrate Zoology and Ecology of the National Research Tomsk State University at ISAE SB RAS in the city of Novosibirsk. One of the founders of the factor zoogeography, organizer of the first in Russia collective databank on the number of terrestrial vertebrates, author of the methodology on valuation and value-based assessments of damage to wildlife during implementation of major economic projects, developer of statistical forecast of the animal population changes in time and space. The Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (1997). The founder and member of Menzbierovsk Ornithological Society and Bird Conservation Union of Russia, member of Moscow Society of Naturalists. Advised 21 PhD students and 4 DSc. Registered by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in the Federal Register of Experts in Scientific and Engineering Sphere (2012). By the decision of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences awarded the Honorary Title «Founder of Scientific School» (2014). Associate Editor-in-Chief for scientific journal «Sibirskiy Ekologicheskiy Zhurnal» (Contempor. Probl. Ecol.), associate editor for scientific journal «Altai Zoological Journal». Executive editor for 17 books. Author and co-author of more than 300 scientific publications, including 9 books.
