Shabanov Vasiliy Filippovich, born 17 May 1940, in the rural settlement of Mikhaylovka, Kormilovskiy District, Omsk Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Omsk State Pedagogical Institute named after A. M. Gorky (at the present time – Omsk State Pedagogical University), Faculty of Physics and Mathematics (at the present time – Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics, Physics and Technology), with a specialty in Physics and Mathematics, qualification Teacher of Physics and Mathematics, in the city of Omsk, Omsk Oblast, Soviet Union (1963). Candidate (PhD, 1970), and Doctor (DSc, 1984) of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in Physics of the Condensed Condition, Professor (1985), Corresponding Member of the USSR Acad. Sci. (1991), Academician of the Rus. Acad. Sci. (2003). Cavalier of the National Foundation «Public Recognition»; Honorary Citizen of the City of Krasnoyarsk, awarded the badge «For Services to the City of Krasnoyarsk» (2010). Specialist in physics and chemistry of optical materials. Scientific interests in physical and chemical properties of optical media, optics and spectroscopy of photonic crystal structures, molecular and liquid crystals, composite materials based on them. Author and co-author of more than 550 scientific publications, 12 patents of the Russian Federation for the inventions.
