Shamov Vladimir Vladimirovich, born 12 June, 1962 in the city of KhabarovskKhabarovsk Krai, Russia. Graduated from the Far Eastern State University (at the present time – Far Eastern Federal University), Faculty of Ceophysics (at the present time – Department of Geology, Geophysics, and Geoecology, School of Engineering), with a specialty in Hydrology and qualification – Engineer-Hydrologist, in the city of Vladivostok, Primorsky Krai, Russia (1984). Candidate of Geographical Sciences (PhD, 1994), Senior Research Scientist (1996) in Terrestrial Hydrology, Water Resources, and Hydrochemistry. PhD thesis: «Water Regime of Meliorated Peat Wetlands in the Lower Amur Region», Irkutsk, V. B. Sochava Institute of Geography, Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br., 1994 (in Russian). Head for the Laboratory of Hydrology and Climatology, the Pacific Institute of Geography, Far-Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciencesin the city of Vladivostok, Primorsky Krai, Russia. Member of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences – IAHS (since 2005). Specialist in study near-surface terrestrial hydrological cycle, river runoff generation mechanisms, water balance of lakes and hydrological regime of swamps. Author and co-author of more than 190 scientific publications. For many years of creative work and contribution to the development of science in the Far East of Russia, awarded honorary title «Veteran of the Far-Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences» (2010).
