Shishkina Olga Karlovna, born in 1952. Graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Biology with a specialty in Biochemistry (1975), PhD studies at the Faculty of Biology, Lomonosov Moscow State University (1978). Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD) in Biochemistry with specialization in Microbiology (1981). PhD thesis: «Microbiological transformation of methylpyridines (physiologically active substances)». Senior Research Scientist, Head for the Department of Forest Genetics at Federal Budgetary Institution «Russian Centre for Forest Protection» (the city of Pushkino, Moscow region). Research interests in: transformation of methylpyridines, biochemistry of maritime luminescent bacterium (the use of luciferase enzyme for quick test in detecting trace amounts of toxic agents), herbicides and arboricides of the natural origin (producers’ retrieval, extraction, testing), high end fungicides (testing, approval for the use in silviculture), acorn storage (development of long term storage technology in the conditions of hypoxia). Since 2008 conduct studies in forest genetics, including practical use of molecular genetics methods in forestry (clones identification in forest plantations, genetic and geographical origin of reproductive material, plant pathogenic identification etc.). Initiator and organizer of creating genetic laboratories in the system of «Russian Centre for Forest Protection». Participant of a numerous international conferences, symposia and workshops on forest biotechnology and genetics (since 2010). Author and co-author of 16 scientific publications. Some of them: «Molecular genetics methods in forestry: results and prospects» In Proc. «VII Moscow Int. Congr. Biotechnology: Contemporary Status and Prospects for Development», Moscow, 2013 (in Russian with English abstract); «Gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar) race identification based on PCR-RFLP gene analysis subunit 1 cytochrome-c-oxidase» In «Contemporary Status and Prospects of Forest Guard and Protection in the System of Sustainable Development». Proc. Int. Sci. & Applied Conf., Gomel, 2013 (in Russian); «Gene geographic aspects of strengthening forest sustainability» In «Contemporary Status and Prospects of Forest Guard and Protection in the System of Sustainable Development».
