Shugalei Lyudmila Stepanovna, born 05 November 1936, in the rural locality of Uspenka, Khabarovsk Krai, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Krasnoyarsk Agricultural Institute (at the present time – Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University), Faculty of Agronomy (at the present time – Institute of Agrarian and Ecological Technologies), with a specialty in Agronomy, qualification Agronomist, in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Soviet Union (1962). Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD) in Soil Science (1969), Doctor of Biological Sciences in Ecology and Soil Science (1992). PhD thesis: «…», 1969 (in Russian). DSc thesis: «Ekologicheskaya Otsenka Antropogenno-Narushennykh Lesnykh Pochv Yuga Sredney Sibiri» (Ecological Assessment of Anthropogenically Disturbed Forest soils in the South of Central Siberia), 1991, Krasnoyarsk, V. Awarded the silver medal of the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNKh) of the Soviet Union, the honorary sign «Silver Sigma» for many years of creative work and great contribution to the development of science in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Sib. Br. Rus. Acad. Sci., Honorary member of the Dokuchaev Soil Science Society. Scientific interests in the studies of soil ecology, soil formation in disturbed ecosystems, anthropogenesis of forest soils. Author and co-author of more than 200 scientific publications, including 10 monographs.
