Volkovitsh Mark Gabrielevich

Volkovitsh Mark Gabrielevich, born 28 October 1950, in the city of Leningrad (06 Sept., 1991 Leningrad renaimed to St. Petersburg), Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Leningrad University named after A. A. Zhdanov (at the present time – St. Petersburg St. Univ.), Faculty of Biology and Soil (at the present time – Faculty of Biology), Department of Entomology, with a specialty in Zoology/Entomology, qualification Biologist, specialization in Zoology/Entomology, the city of Leningrad, Soviet Union (1972), in the same year was hired as a laboratory assistant for the Lab. Insect Taxonomy, Zool. Inst. USSR Acad. Sci. (at the present time – Zool. Inst. Rus. Acad. Sci.), in the city of Leningrad, Soviet Union. Candidate (PhD, 1979), and Doctor (DSc, 2012) of Biological Sciences in Entomology. PhD thesis: «Zlatki Triby Acmaeoderini (Coleoptera, Buprestidae) fauny SSSR» (Emerald beetles of the tribe Acmaeoderini (Coleoptera, Buprestidae) of the fauna of the USSR), Leningrad, Zool. Inst. Member of the Rus. Entomol. Soc. (1993-present), Entomol. Soc. Amer. (1993-present), Europ. Ass. Coleopterology (1993-present), Coleopterists Soc. (1990-present), invited expert for EPPO, thematic editor for the J. Insect Biol. (Turkey), and the Entomol. Rev. Main scientific interests in: systematics and faunistics of emerald beetles (Coleoptera, Buprestidae), morphology of adults and larvae, zoogeography and ecology of emerald beetles of the Palearctic and world fauna, biological control of weeds, biological invasions. Author and co-author of more than 230 scientific publications, including 2 monographs, chapters in 13 collective monographs.
