Vorobeichik Eugene Leonidovich, born 21 May 1965. Graduated from Dnepropetrovsk State University (at the present time – Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University), Faculty of Biology (at the present time – Faculty of Biology, Ecology and Medicine) with a specialty in Zoology and Botany and specialization in Zoology (1987). Candidate (PhD) (1996) and Doctor (2004) of Biological Sciences in Ecology. PhD thesis: «Reaktsiya Pochvennoy Bioty Lesnykh Ekosistem Srednego Urala na Vybrosy Medeplavilnykh Kombinatov» (Reaction of Soil Biota of Forest Ecosystems of the Middle Urals to Pollutants of Copper Smelteryes), YekaterinburgInst. Plant and Animal Ecol.Rus. Acad. Sci.Ural Br., 1996 (in Russian). DSc thesis: «Ekologicheskoe Normirovanie Toksicheskikh Nagruzok na Nazemnye Ekosistemy» (Ecological Regulating of Toxic Loads to Terrestrial Ecosystems), Yekaterinburg, Urals St. Agr. Acad. Univ.), 2003 (in Russian). Deputy Director on scientific research (since 1998), Head for the Laboratory of Ecotoxicology of Populations and Communities (since 2002) at Institute of Plant and Animal Ecology, Russian Academy of Sciences, Ural Branch in the city of Yekaterinburg. Associated editor for peer-reviewed journal «Ekologiya» (Rus. J. Ecol.). PI and Co-PI for 11 research projects supported by RFBR. Expert in the field of soil biology, toxicology, studying the impact of industrial pollution on terrestrial ecosystems. Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation for outstanding services in science and technology for young scientists (1998). Author and co-author of more than 100 papers and 3 books.
