Gromtsev Andrei Nikolaevich, born 28 February 1958, in the city of Petrozavodsk, Republic of KareliaSoviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Petrozavodsk State University, Faculty of Forest Engineering (at the present time – Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences), with a specialty in Forestry, qualification Engineer of Forestry (1980), PhD studies in Forest Science at For. Res. Inst., Karel. Res. Centre Rus. Acad. Sci. (1985-1989), in the city of Petrozavodsk, Republic of KareliaSoviet Union. Candidate (1989), and Doctor (DSc, 1996) of Agricultural Sciences in Forest Science, Forestry, Forest Fires and Fire Fighting. PhD thesis: «Landshaftnaya Spetsifika Struktury i Dinamiki Srednetaezhnykh Sosnovykh Lesov Karelii» (Landscape Specifics of Structure and Dynamics of Middle Taiga Pine Forests of Karelia), Leningrad (06 Sept., 1991 Leningrad renaimed to Saint Petersburg), S. M. Kirov Leningrad For. Techn. Acad. (at the present time – Saint-Petersburg St. For. Techn. Univ.), 1989 (in Russian). DSc. thesis: "Landshaftnye Zakonomernosti Strukturno-Dinamicheskoi Organizatsii Taezhnyh Lesov (na Primere Severo-Zapada Taeznoi Zony Rossii)" (Landscape Regularitites of Structural-Dynamic Organization of Taiga Forests (on the Example of North-West of Taiga Zone of Russia), Saint-Petersburg, S. M. Kirov Saint-Petersburg For. Tech. Acad. (at the present time – Saint-Petersburg St. For. Techn. Univ.), 1996 (in Russian). Leading Research Scientist for the Laboratory of Lanscape Ecology and Forest Ecosystems' Protection, Forest Research Institute, Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in the city of PetrozavodskRepublic of KareliaRussia (2022-present). Specialist in forest landscape ecology and landscape ecological planning of multi-purpose (multi-resource) forest management. PI and CoPI for a numerous international and inter-institutional research projects at the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, focusing on a feasibility studies of specially protected natural areas. Member of the Presidium of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Member of the Editorial Board for the peer-reviewed scientific journal “Transactions of Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences”, member of the editorial board for the peer-reviewed scientific journal "Sibirskij Lesnoj Zurnal" ("Siberian Journal of Forest Science").  Scientific editor and co-author of 12 books. Since 2006, the Editor-in-Chief of the “Republic of Karelia State Report on the Environment” (yearbook). Three times (1994-1996, 1997-1999 and 2000-2003) awarded by the National Scientific Scholarship for Prominent Russian Scientists. Honored Scientist of the Republic of Karelia (1999). Laureate of the Program for “Doctorate and Post-Doctorate Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences» of the National Science Support Foundation (2004-2005). The Honored Laureate of the Republic of Karelia (2007). Author and a co-author of more than 290 scientific publications, including 16 books. Among them: «Osnovy Landshaftnoi Ekologii Evropeiskikh Taeznykh Lesov Rossii» (Basics for Landscape Ecology of European Boreal Forests of Russia), Petrozavodsk, 2008 (in Russian with English summary and contents).
