On the basis of the analysis of variability of isoenzyme loci and microsatellite loci of nuclear and chloroplast DNA, data was obtained on the genetic diversity and degree of differentiation of a number of the Siberian spruce (Picea obovata Ledeb.) populations from different parts of its range. The study included the isolated populations of Siberian spruce located on Olkhon island (Baikal lake), in the Bogd-Uul natural reserve (Mongolia) and in the southern part of Magadan region (Magadan State Nature Reserve) as well as the populations of Siberian spruce with blue and, typical of the species, green colored needles from the area of their joint occurence on the southern coast of the Baikal lake. Also analyze were several populations of Siberian spruce from geographically-near Irkutsk and Buryatia (Vydrino, 2 и Vydrino, 1, respectively) regions. It was established that the population of Bogd-Uul significantly differentiated from other populations analyzed, including those from an isolated relic spruce population on the island of Olkhon, both isozyme and microsatellite loci nuclear and chloroplast DNA. It should be noted, however, that the degree of differentiation of populations established on the basis of the analysis of variability of the three studied markers does not always coincide. For example, the population of Olkhon island on isozyme loci reveals a fairly high level of differentiation with populations Vydrino, 2 and Krasnoyarovo of Buryatia and on microsatellite loci of chloroplast DNA is close to them, adjacent to the group populations differ slightly from each other in this type of DNA markers. Significant differences in the degree of differentiation on the three various genetic markers are observed for some other comparable pairs of populations too. Thus, the results of the research showed that for obtaining a more complete and objective information about the genetic diversity and intraspecific differentiation of this widespread in Siberia species, it is advisable to use a difference in the type of inheritance and the level of variability genetic markers.
