Birben Üstüner, born 18 March 1981, in the province of Rize, Turkey. Graduated from Ankara University, Forestry Faculty of Çankırı (at the present time – Cankiri Karatekin University, Faculty of Forestry), Department of Forest Economics, with MSc in Forest Engineering, in the city of Çankiri, Turkey (2002). PhD studies in Forest Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Anadolu University, with PhD in Forest Economics, in the city of Eskişehir, Turkey (2005). Associate Professor for the Department of Forest Engineering, Faculty of Forestry, Cankiri Karatekin University, in the city of Çankiri, Turkey (2005-present). Scientific interests in forest law, policy, and economics. Author and co-author of more than 60 scientific publications. Some of them: The effectiveness of the Bern Convention on wildlife legislation and judicial decisions in Turkey, 2021; Analysis of the Ramsar Convention’s effectiveness on the Turkish legislation and judicial decisions, 2021; Conserving migratory birds of Turkey: role of the international legal framework, 2022; An analysis of the convention on the protection of the Black Sea against pollution (the Bucharest Convention) from the perspective of Turkish contract law, 2023.
