Krasnoshchekov Yuri Nikolaevich, born 8 July, 1947 in the town of Cheremkhovo, Irkutsk Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Irkutsk State University, Faculty of Biology and Soil Studies, with a specialty in Soil Science and Agrochemistry, qualification Soil Science Specialsit and Agrochemist, in the city of Irkutsk, Irkutsk Oblast, Soviet Union (1971). Candidate of Agricultural Sciences (PhD) in Forest Science, Silviculture, and Protective Forest Growing; Forest Fires and Fire Fighting (1977), Doctor of Biological Sciences in Ecology and Soil Science (1991). Main directions of scientific research are: genesis, geography and ecology of forest soils of the Baikal Lake region, including Mongolia, the study of soil-protective functions of mountain forests, and the impact of forestry activities and forest fires to change the properties of soils, with an assessment of their forest growth potential. Associate Editor for peer-reviewed scientific journal "Sibirskij Lesnoj Zurnal" ("Sib. J. For. Sci."). Author and co-author of more than 190 papers, including 12 books.
