Putenikhin Valeriy Petrovich, born 20 May, 1957. Graduated from Bashkir State University, Faculty of Biology, with a specialty in Biology, qualification Biologist, in the city of Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia (1979). Candidate (PhD, 1990) and Doctor (DSc, 2000) of Biological Sciences in Forest Crops, Selection, and Seed Farming, Professor in Botany (2013). PhD thesis: «Populyatsionnaya Struktura i Sokhranenie Genofonda Listvennitsy Sukacheva na Yuzhnom Urale» (Population Structure and Conservation of Genofund of the Sukachev Larch in the Southern Ural), Sverdlovsk (in 1992 the city of Sverdlovsk renaimed to Yekaterinburg), Lenin Komsomol Ural Forest Engineering Inst. (at the present time – Ural State Forest Engineering Univ.), 1990 (in Russian). DSc thesis: «Populyatsionnaya Struktura i Sokhranenie Genofonda Khvoinykh Vidov na Urale» (Population Structure and Conservation of Genofund of Coniferous Species in the Urals), Krasnoyarsk, V. N. PI and Co-PI for a numerous international, national and regional research projects directed to study of population structure, variability and form diversity of forest tree species, dendrological investigation of forest tree crops, nature monuments and garden-park objects, introduction and increase of biodiversity of cultivated woody species. Member of the editorial boards of the peer-reviewed theoretical journals: «Biomika» (Biomics), «Sibirskij Lesnoj Zurnal» (Sib. J. For. Sci.). Author and co-author of more than 270 papers and 18 books including 11 monographs (3 of them published in «Nauka» Publ. House), 2 textbooks, 5 scientific-popular books.
