Savost'yanov Vadim Konstantinovich, born 17 May 1941 in the town of Zima, Irkutsk Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia), deceased 07 December 2020, in the city of Abakan, Republic of Khakassia, Russia. Graduated from Krasnoyarsk Agricultural Institute (at the present time – Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University), Faculty of Agronomy (at the present time – Institute of Agrarian and Ecological Technology), with a specialty in Agronomy, qualification Agronomist, PhD studies in Soil Science (1963-1966) at V. N. Sukachev Inst. For. and Timber, Sib. Br., USSR Acad. Sci. (since 1992 – V. N. Sukachev Inst. For., Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br.), in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. Candidate of Agricultural Sciences (PhD) in Soil Science (1967). PhD thesis: «Povyshenie Plodorodiya Pereveyannykh Supeschannykh Pochv (na Primere Severnoy Khakasii)» (Increasing Fertility of Winnowed Sabulous Soils (on the Example of Norther Khakassia), Irkutsk, Irkutsk Agr. Inst. ((at the present time – Irkutsk St. Agr. Univ. named after A. A. Ezhevsky), 1967 (in Russian). Senior Research Scientist in Soil Science (1980). Deputy Director on international and interregional cooperation for the Scientific Research Institute for Agrarian Problems of Khakassia, Siberian Federal Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnologies, Russian Academy of Sciences, Head for the Laboratory on Desertification Control, in the city of Abakan, Republic of Khakassia, Russia (2011-2020). Member of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (2003). Holder of the Order of Honour, the Honored Agronomist of the Russian Federation, the Honoured Scientist of the Republic of Khakassia and the Republic of Tyva, the Honorary Member of V. V. Dokuchaev Society of Soil Scientists of Russia. Expert in soil protection, desertification control, complex land improving and efficient using soils in arid areas of Siberia. Author and co-author of more than 500 scientific publications, including 18 books.
