Yakovlev Roman Viktorovich

Yakovlev Roman Viktorovich, born 30 November 1974, in the city of Barnaul, Altai Krai, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Altai Med. Univ., Medical Faculty, with a specialty in Medicine, qualification Physician, in the city of Barnaul, Russia (2001). Candidate (PhD, 2003), and Doctor (DSc, 2014) of Biological Sciences in Entomology. PhD thesis: «Bulavousye Cheshuekrylye Lepidoptera Diurna) Altaiskoy Gornoy Strany: Ekologiya i Zoogeografiya» (Butterflies (Lepidoptera, Rhopalocera) of the Altai Mountainous Country: Ecology and Zoogeography), Barnaul, 2003 (in Russian). DSc thesis: «Drevotochtsy (Cosidae) Starogo Sveta» (Woodworms (Cosidae) of the Old World), St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg St. Univ., 2014 (in Russian). Professor for the Dpt. Ecol., Biochem. & Biotechnol., Inst. Biol. & Biotechol., Altai St. Univ., in the city of Barnaul, Russia. Expert on carpenter moths (Lepidoptera, Cossidae) and in the taxonomy of lepidopteran insects of Siberia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia. Extensively studied the carpenter moth fauna of Russia, Georgia, Lebanon, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Malawi, Zimbabwe, etc., as well as the Papilionoidea fauna of the Altai mountainous country (in particular, the Mongolian Altai and the Saur Mountains). He has described more than 300 species, 51 genera and 4 subfamilies of Lepidoptera. Roman has participated in many national and international conferences and worked in a number of recognized scientific centers abroad; he studied museum specimens of carpenter moths in the largest scientific depositaria and museums across the world. PI and Co-PI for a numerous national and international research projects. Author and co-author of more than 250 scientific publications, two books and several chapters in the collective monographs on biodiversity of moths in various regions of the world. Editor-in-Chief for Acta Biologica Sibirica.
