Kratasyuk Valentina Alexandrovna
Kratasyuk Valentina Alexandrovna, born 01 December 1952, in the city of Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Soviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Novosibirsk State University, Faculty of Biology (at the present time – Department of Natural Science), with a specialty in Biochemistry, qualification Biologist, in the city of Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk Oblast, Soviet Union (1975). Candidate (PhD, 1985) and Doctor (DSc, 1995) of Biological Sciences, Professor (1992) in Biophysics. PhD thesis: «Biolyuminestsentny Ingibitorny Mikroanaliz» (Bioluminescent Inhibitory Microanalysis), Krasnoyarsk, Inst. Biophys. Sib. Br. USSR Acad. Sci. (currently – Inst. Biophys., Fed. Res. Center Krasnoyarsk Sci. Center, Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br.), 1985 (in Russian). DSc thesis: «Lyutsiferaznoe Biotestirovanie: Biofizicheskie Osnovy, Metody i Primenenie» (Luciferase Biotesting: Biophysical Principles, Methods and Application), Krasnoyarsk, Inst. Biophys., Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br., 1995 (in Russian). Leading Research Scientist for the Laboratory of Photobiology, Inst. Biophys., Fed. Res. Center Krasnoyarsk Sci. Center, Rus. Acad. Sci., Sib. Br. (1995-present), the Head for the Department of Biophysics, School of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology, Siberian Federal University (SFU) (1999-present), Chief Research Scientist for the Laboratory of Bioluminiscent Biotechnology, SFU (2011-present), Founder and Scientific Director for the small scientific and production enterprise «Prikladnye Biosistemy» (Applied Biosystems) (2006-present), in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Creator and director of the scientific school in the field of bioluminescent biotechnology. The main scientific results are related to the study of physicochemical mechanisms of bioluminescence and bioluminescent analysis: the mechanisms of enzyme inhibition in luminous bacteria were studied and a new scientific direction was created – enzymatic biotests for assessing total toxicity; a platform technology was developed for constructing express enzymatic biotests for environmental monitoring, medicine and other applications; the mechanisms of enzyme and substrate stabilization in viscous and gel-like media were studied and immobilized enzymatic multicomponent dosed reagents were developed as a biological module for a new generation of bioluminescent biosensors; the mechanisms of functioning of fragments of polyenzyme metabolic chains in a gel-like environment were studied to develop an experimental model of enzyme functioning in the hyaloplasm of luminous bacteria cells. Head and co-head of more than 100 Russian and international research projects on the study of bioluminescence mechanisms and bioluminescence analysis. Supervised 9 PhD students. She was awarded the bronze medal of the USSR VDNKh «For achievements in the development of the national economy of the USSR» (1986), the honorary title «Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation» (2012), the medal «For contribution to the implementation of state policy in the field of education» (2021), the badge «Honored Veteran of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences» (2024), laureate of the scientific prize of the Siberian Federal University in the nomination «Success in mentoring» (2024), winner of the competition «National Environmental Prize» in the nomination «Education for Sustainable Development» (2009). Author and co-author of more than 300 scientific publications, including 7 monographs, 33 patents of the Russian Federation for inventions.
